Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a title long-hyped up by Nintendo. Pre-orders for the special edition of the game released today and are apparently a slight disaster, however.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Pre-Order Queues
According to several Twitter users and our own personal experience, it’s currently next-to-impossible to get into the Nintendo of America page to pre-order the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition. It’s unclear as to whether or not this is due to an incredible amount of demand or whether it’s related to scalpers and bots, but suffice to say people aren’t particularly happy about the situation. Pre-orders for the game were announced yesterday to be launching today, but Nintendo seems to have not foreseen this level of demand and stress on their website. Nintendo of America have however acknowledged the issue on their end, but offered no assurances as to the cause of this situation. It’s also unclear whether Nintendo has employed any type of anti-scalper methodology on their end, given how prevalent the issue is with PS5 and Xbox Series X restocks.
Pre-Order Weirdness
That’s not the only weird part about Xenoblade Chronicles 3, though. As noticed over on Twitter, the game is shipping in multiple parts. The Nintendo Store directly states the following:
“The special edition will ship in two parts
- The physical edition of the game, shipping on or around its release date of July 29, 2022
- The Steelbook game case, Special Edition box, and art book, shipping fall 2022″
It’s an extremely weird situation, especially given the lack of precedent for these things. Usually when a special edition is offered it’s sent out with everything on day one of the launch, not in parts later. This also raises logistical questions of address changes and so forth, and how Nintendo will handle them if the problem arises.
