vivo sells its smartphones with two different operating systems – OriginOS Ocean in China, and Funtouch around the world. Today the company confirmed its overseas devices will get Funtouch OS 13, based on Android 13. The eligibility list includes over 50 devices from both the vivo and iQOO brands.
Major improvements include app pinning to prevent someone else to look at other apps, enhanced control through iManager and a new stabilizer ring in the viewfinder while taking photos.
FunTouch provides additional ways to customize the home screen graphics, including icons matching the background, system. The Settings menu can be in a single color, thanks to the Monochrome Icon feature, which is a delightful update for those who prefer a simplistic appearance.
The app pinning feature is just one of the security improvements. Users can also hide certain photos from their devices – it is an option through the three-dot menu in the gallery.
The app iManager is vivo’s own solution to have all the phone controls in one place. With Funtouch 13, monitoring app usage time and the user experience is a lot more streamlined.
One tap closes applications that are heavy on the CPU, and the app now can reduce active apps and adjust CPU frequency based on the phone’s cooling capabilities.
Video editing now allows you to mute the audio while making any changes to certain segments, which is a huge improvement, especially in the era of TikTok videos and Reelss.
Photo editing can now happen within the viewfinder – a simple horizontal swipe selects vibrance, brightness, contrast, and exposure, while vertically it goes between +100 and -100.
