Overwatch 2 is currently scheduled to launch on October 4th, 2022. The game promises to feature more than 30 hero characters (more on that later), a reduced team size in PvP, and persistent co-op modes and was originally announced at BlizzCon 2019.
The developers have set out to ensure that the new game is playable alongside the original while making improvements to the engine.
For example, there’s a larger focus on bigger map sizes made possible by the sheer scope of the engine, and every existing hero is getting a visual redesign for the game.
Overwatch 2 will launch in early access, thus allowing the team working on it to fix bugs as they crop up.
It’ll also allow the developers to add content whenever it’s ready, meaning that the game will never truly be dead.

Season 1 will launch on October 4th with three new heroes, with season 2 starting on December 9th. Blizzard plans to announce more heroes for the game in the coming months, with at least two unannounced and unrevealed heroes coming to the game thanks to the new seasons.
