Sony a7R V Announced – 8K Video Recording and a Dedicated AI Processor With new Subject Recognition Capabilities

The Sony a7R V camera has been just announced bringing to the table 8K video recording and a dedicated AI processor that can track shapes, human body, and body parts. (arms legs etc), animal and insect bodies and eyes, next to vehicles like airplanes cars, and such. Both photo and video modes will benefit from that new autofocus tracking capabilities. The Sony a7R V is having a new full articulated LCD screen and according to Sony, 8 stops of IBIS performance.

A bit over three years ago the Sony a7R IV was announced and introduced to the media at an event in Irland. At that time, the only major improvement when filming video was the better AF performance. Fast forward, and today Sony is announcing its predecessor, the a7R V. The new camera seems to bring enhanced video capabilities like 8K video recording next to a more sophisticated autofocus system. By the way, if compared to the previous model, its introductory price is slightly higher by $400, which is on par with many other companies who are trying to keep the prices of their newer models around the ballpark of their predecessors. Riding on the same “price for value train of thoughts”, it can be that for some, this new camera will be the cheaper sensible alternative when considering buying Sony’s A1 flagship camera.
