Resident Evil has been having a pretty good time, at least on the gaming side. You’ve had Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Resident Evil Biohazard, Resident Evil Village and now Resident Evil 4 Remake has been announced. But when is the Resident Evil 4 Remake release date?

What do we know about the game itself? How much will they be changing in the game, if anything? Fret not stranger, we’ve got some answers for you.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Release Date

Resident Evil 4 Remake Announcement Trailer

Shocking the world when it was first announced, the announcement trailer for Resident Evil 4 Remake opens with the game’s release date.

Resident Evil 4 Remake will be launching across PlayStation, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC on March 24th, 2023.

The announcement trailer for the game also confirms that Capcom is developing some form of VR content for the game, though we don’t know exactly what that is as of yet.

It could be original content or it could be an adaptation of several sequences from the main Resident Evil 4 Remake itself.

Mixing in Ada’s campaign in order to make it part of the main game is something that Capcom could be seeking to do, though it’s likely we won’t know the full extent of any changes until further gameplay is shown off.

Resident Evil 4 is much more action-focused than any of the other remade Resident Evil games, so the remake will have to find a way to adapt that.

Resident Evil 4 Remake News

Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Village

We don’t have a ton of information on the game currently, given that it was only just announced. Though thanks to the recent Capcom Showcase during presentation season, we do know about one extremely interesting redesign to the gameplay.

In the original game, Leon S Kennedy, the main character of Resident Evil 4 and one of the main characters of Resident Evil 2, cannot move while aiming his gun.

This forces you into extremely tense situations as you attempt to clear a path in front of you while being acutely aware of things approaching you from behind.

For a brief few seconds in the gameplay shown off at the Capcom Showcase though, Leon moves while aiming his gun.

Now it’s possible the clip is taken out of context, or from a cutscene, but if it’s from a gameplay segment it raises some interesting questions.

Will Capcom be redesigning combat encounters in order to accommodate the now mobile Leon? If so, will this change the pace and the flow of the game at all?

We already know that they’re not against changing things in these remakes, with Nemesis from Resident Evil 3 Remake and Mr X from Resident Evil 2 Remake serving as examples of this.

Only time will tell how much they’ve changed in the game, and what exactly the modern flourishes they’ve added are.
