May 31st was the original launch date set for the GTX 1630, however now VideoCardz has got the embargo date for June 15th. The embargo information is usually sent to retailers and previously set for tomorrow, it is now coming in two weeks’ time. With on-shelf and marketing coming at the same time with no review embargos planned.

So it is unlikely to be sent to reviewers and they will more than likely have to be sourced by reviewers themselves. With the much lower specifications and performance from benchmarks lacking behind both 1650 and 1050 Ti. The latter of which is meant to be going EOL with this release.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1630 performance and specifications

The GTX 1630 is built with the TU117-150 GPU, a reduced version of the GTX 1650. However, it also has a smaller memory bus at 64-bit compared to 128-bit. So even with the same memory clock, the bandwidth has halved to 96 GB/s. This may explain the large performance discretion in synthetic benchmarks. The CUDA core count with the new variant sets it to 512 compared to 896 in the 50 card.

There are three benchmark performances for comparison between the cards. Although they may not be real-world performance tests they can be a good comparison and see how well they work. In Firestrike 1080p, the 1650 performs 82% better than the 1630 with the 1050 Ti just 17% faster. Whilst in Firestrike Extreme 4K the 1650 has nearly double the performance with 97% more, whilst the 1050 Ti has 48% more. Lastly, in TimeSpy 1440p the 1050 Ti is only 8% ahead over the 1630, but the 1650 is 72% more powerful.

The lower-end cards already aren’t great choices for gamers as are likely only to be good for 1080p Esports titles. So having an even weaker card seems a bit unnecessary, but it’s good to at least see Nvidia remember the entry budget market. As long as the price reflects it well.
