NHL 23 Player Ratings: Top 10 centers

NHL 23 has released its new player ratings, providing fans with their first real taste of what they can expect from the latest installment of the franchise. This is a special experience for the NHL 23 community as fans get to analyze which specific player ratings improved, declined, or plateaued since NHL 22.

  2. Auston Matthews (94 Overall) – Toronto Maple Leafs
  3. Nathan MacKinnon (94 Overall) – Colorado Avalanche
  4. Leon Draisaitl (93 Overall) – Edmonton Oilers
  5. Sidney Crosby (93 Overall) – Pittsburgh Penguins
  6. Aleksander Barkov (92 Overall) – Florida Panthers
  7. Steven Stamkos (90 Overall) – Tampa Bay Lightening
  8. Evgeni Malkin (90 Overall) – Pittsburgh Penguins
  9. Sebastian Aho (89 Overall) – Carolina Hurricanes
  10. Patrice Bergeron (89 Overall) – Boston Bruins

Considering the type of season the NHL had with so many stars rising to the occasion, this Top 10 is actually quite fitting and reflective of the best centers in the game.

A helpful trick to garner a better understanding of the new player ratings in NHL 23, is to look over the ratings from the previous edition. In short, this allows fans to visualize the movement within the rankings from season to season.

  3. Sidney Crosby (93 Overall) – Pittsburgh Penguins

Upon looking at the NHL 22 list, you’ll notice that NHL 23 does not have as many 90 overalls in their Top 10. Players like Matthews, Barkov, and MacKinnon all rose the ranks with their overall ratings while Bergeron, Eichel, and Kopitar fell a few spots down on the list.
