India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology or the MEITY has confirmed the suspension of Battlegrounds Mobile India or BGMI in response to an RTI filed on the matter.
The RTI came into the public limelight, when Twitter user GodYamarajOP shared screenshots of the RTI petition they applied for with the MEITY in a recent tweet. The user had asked the ministry to share details about the reasons behind the ban of BGMI in India. Furthermore, they even asked whether the ministry has had any talks with developers Krafton in lifting the suspension.
The MEITY responded to the RTI by refusing to divulge the details behind the ban, under the provision of section 69A of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for Access of Inf. union for Public) Rules, 2009.
With regards to the matter being discussed with Krafton, the MEITY confirmed that it has had talks with the developers. However, the meeting minutes were kept behind closed doors, as per Rule 16 of Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for access to Information by Public) Rules, 2009, strict confidentiality shall be maintained regarding all the requests and complaints received and actions taken thereof.
PUBG: New State Mobile receives new map
Krafton has announced a new map for PUBG: New State Mobile called Akinta, which is based in the continent of Africa during the year 2051. The 4×4 Battle Royale map can hold up to 64 players, and it will have the same rules and features as the game’s other locations in Troi and Erangel.
The map comes with an exclusive 5-seater vehicle called the Vcab. Moreover, Akinta also features a faster tram, which means faster traversal as well. Players can currently experience the new location after updating their device with the September patch.
