The new MacBook Pro 2022 pre order date is not yet known, as Apple hasn’t even officially confirmed that they’re launching the product yet. However, based on the predictions of Marky Mark Gurman, plus some sleuthing of previous MacBook launch dates, we’ve come up with a time window that we think the MacBook Pro M2 Pro pre order and MacBook Pro M2 Max pre order will likely land in.

Historical MacBook Pro pre order dates

As we go over in more detail on our MacBook Pro release date page, every MacBook launch date over the past four years (i.e. when the product is officially revealed) has taken place either in the May-July period or the October-November period of the year, with the pre order taking place a few days after the launch date.

This is a good guideline for predicting the likely MacBook pre order date this year: May-July seems too far away to be likely, and we’re right at the end of October, so November seems probable.

New MacBook Pro 2022 launch date prediction

Based on historical trends then, plus Mark Gurman’s assertion that ‘the company has historically launched new products in November’, we predict that the launch date will fall at some point in the month of November. The company tends to launch/unveil new products on a Tuesday or a Wednesday in the week, so this is likely for the new MacBooks.

Pre order MacBook Pro M2 Pro pre order date estimate

Pre orders for Apple products often go live on the same Friday of the week they are launched/unveiled to the public (with the release date being the following Friday). Sometimes however they are available to pre order immediately after they are launched (usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday)

We therefore predict that the MacBook Pro M2 Pro pre order date will be anytime between Tuesday 4th November – Friday 2nd December, 2022.

Pre order MacBook Pro M2 Max pre order date estimate

The MacBook Pro M2 Max pre order date will be the same as that of the M2 Pro version, so we also predict anytime between Tuesday 4th November – Friday 2nd December, 2022 for the MacBook Pro M2 Max pre order.

Is there a new MacBook Pro coming out in 2022?

Although it’s not been definitively confirmed by Apple yet, it’s likely we’ll see new MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch versions launched before the end of 2022.

Earlier in the year we’ve already seen the launch of a new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13-inch device.

Can you preorder the new MacBook Pro?

You cannot yet pre order the new MacBook Pro 2022 versions that we believe will be appearing in the next month or so. It is likely that MacBook Pro M2 Max pre orders and MacBook Pro M2 Pro pre orders will go live at some point in November, but this has yet to be confirmed.
