Nanguang has announced the Nanlux Evoke 1200B Bi-Color Spotlight. The light is similar in design to the daylight-centric Evoke 1200 released last year but offers dual 1200W Bi-color LED chips in a dot matrix format.
“Incorporating product philosophy refined over the past 30 years, Evoke 1200B is the new weapon for the cinematographers & gaffers in film & TV production,” states the Nanlux press release.
“It would be expected to be a game-changer in bringing beyond-anticipation user experience for the large film crew who demand precision lighting and subtlety.”
The Evoke 1200B offers a luminance level of 5600K with 61,030 lux at three meters using the RF-NLM-26 light reflector.
That is comparable to a 1.8kW PAR or 2.5m kW HMI Fresnel, making it one of the brightest spotlights in its category.
It can provide a CCT range of 2700K-6500K to provide sunrise to daylight to sunset recreations with an extremely high continuity and accuracy in any CCT range. And with the advanced bi-color lighting technologies, the 1200B makes using lighting gels a thing of the past.
Nanguang states that the Evoke 1200B offers excellent color rendering capability as highlighted by scores of 96/95 for CRI/TLCI, and an average of 95/Rf and 1020Rg for TM30.
It holds an IP rating of IP54 for water resistance in harsh weather and offers ultra high-speed flash sync without flicker, even when uplifting the frame rate being shot at.
Control of the Evoke 1200B can be achieved by the rear 2.8-inch LCD display and control knobs, or wirelessly through the Nanlink mobile app. There is also an option for both wired and wireless DMX control.
Dimming can be fine-tuned from 0-100 percent in .1% increments, plus there are five dimming curves available including LINEAR, EXPONENT, LOGARITHM, S-CURVE, GAMMA 2.2. There are also 12 customizable practical effects built in.
To keep things cool, the Evoke 1200B offers four fan modes – Smart, full speed, low speed, and off, should the need for extra silence be required for a scene.
The light is built using aluminum die-cast alloys and has an offset yoke design with a 15-degree expanded titling angle with NL mount light modifiers attached. The total weight is kept at 7.75 kg.
There’s no word on pricing or availability, but the Nanlux Evoke 1200 daylight spotlight is currently selling for $3350 at B&H.
