Modern Warfare 2 Best Settings PC
As with any PC game, getting your settings just right is a majorly important step. The right settings can increase your performance drastically, both graphically and in terms of how well you are playing.
Below, you’ll find our recommended general settings for MW2 on PC.
Quick Settings
The quick settings menu is your best friend when it comes to adjusting options in Modern Warfare 2. All of the settings you’re most commonly going to be changing can be found in this menu. We’ve listed them below with a description of what they do and which setting you should choose:
- Master Volume – This controls the overall volume of the game. If you’re finding the game too loud compared with other programs, turn this one down.
- Aiming Input Device – This option changes whether you aim with a mouse or a gamepad. Everything other than aiming can be done on keyboard or controller without changing any settings, which is pretty neat.
- Mouse Sensitivity – An option that adjusts how quickly your reticle will move relative to your mouse. Default is 8, but you should try and get more comfortable moving it to at least 15-25, as this will enable you to draw a bead on your enemies much faster. Remember, many gaming mice come with built-in sensitivity settings, so check those if your sensitivity seems off.
- Horizontal/Verticle Stick Sensitivity – Much the same as the option above, but specifically for people using a controller over a mouse and keyboard. Starts out at 4, but again, we recommend playing with it on maximum if you can manage it.
- Display Mode – Allows you to switch between Fullscreen, Borderless Window, and Windowed mode. Fullscreen is your best bet to maximize your performance, but Borderless Window allows for seamless task-switching, so if you happen to be using one of our excellent guides, this might be the option for you.
- Brightness – This setting alters how bright the game is. Most of the time, you’re best off using the value that you set in the brightness wizard the first time you booted the game. However, if a scene is particularly dark or too bright, you can adjust it on-the-fly to suit your needs.
- Field of View [FOV] – The final quick setting adjusts how much you can see on your screen. In almost all cases, your best bet is to crank this setting up to maximum so you can see as much of what is going on as possible.
