The iPhone SE (2022) is the latest model announced by Apple. However, the next generation of Apple’s main range was introduced on September 14, 2021, when the company launched the new iPhone 13 series. Included once again are the two professional models, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. There is once again a particularly small model for easy one-handed use, the iPhone 13 mini.
As usual, Apple also retains its older models in the catalog. In the coming months, these are the previous models that you can still purchase: the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini, and the iPhone 11.
Below are the different iPhone models presented in detail. Use the links in the table of contents to check out the specific handset that you are interested in. You can also find a daily price comparison of the different iPhones here.
Below are all the current iPhone models available for purchase in detail. In addition, you’ll also be able to find links to cheap prices and the best available deals (where applicable) for your favorite iPhone in the comparison tables. Let’s begin with the current iPhone Pro models.

In the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple packed everything including the kitchen sink. This year, there are no differences between the two Pro models apart from the display size and battery capacity. Of course, everything else that is underneath the hood, which you will also find in the “normal” iPhone 13 models, include the Apple A15 Bionic chipset with 5G support, FaceID, MagSafe support, and an IP68 certified chassis.
When it comes to mobile games, the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max have a few extras up their sleeves: The GPU has been upgraded with the inclusion of an additional processing core. And the OLED screens now manage refresh rates of up to 120 Hz. iOS 15 will dynamically adjust the refresh rate depending on the displayed content to save battery. Speaking of battery life, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max’s battery life is said to have improved by 1.5 and 2.5 hours, respectively, compared to their respective predecessors.
The iPhone with the longest battery life ever is the iPhone 13 Pro Max – Camila found that out in her review. She used the most expensive smartphone for a long time, using it as a “daily driver”. Only Quick-Charging leaves something to be desired compared to many Android alternatives. She was also not convinced by Face ID’s performance.
The Pro models also offer more capability in terms of cameras. The most obvious here would be the additional telephoto lens, which now offers a triple optical zoom feature and has an optical image stabilizer on iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max. Alongside this, though, there are also larger sensors on the main camera, which should further improve image quality, especially in low light conditions. ProRAW support and a LiDAR sensor are also found only in the Pro models.

On paper, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are “small” iPhones. But in reality, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini hardly have to cower behind the Pro models. Equipped with the Apple A15 Bionic chipset, making them on par with the Pro series in terms of processing power, while the screens should be great to look at again thanks to HDR support, TrueTone, and OLED technology. Unlike the Pro models, however, the refresh rate is limited to jtsu 60 Hz which is positively archaic in this day and age.
Buyers of the non-Pro models have to do without the telephoto lens. On the other hand, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini come with the new Cinematic Mode, which allows video recordings to achieve better depth of field. The smartphone can either adjust the focus for you or you can adjust it yourself with a tap on the display. The focus point can even be set once recording begins.
Some time after the release, we tested both the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 mini in detail. In the process, we conducted a long-term test on the mini model and tested how well a phone with a 5.4-inch display performs in everyday use for three months. The result: the mini-iPhone is very well suited for people with smaller hands or Apple fans who prefer smaller devices.
The performance of the display, the camera and the A15 Bionic is not inferior to the standard model. Only the battery is a drawback, because it does not quite last the day during intensive use. You can read more in Ben’s long-term test on the linked page.

Traditionally, Apple also offers older models at lower prices in addition to the current generation iPhones. In the US, you can still officially buy the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 mini from the iPhone 12 series at Apple, while saving some money along the way if you are OK with not having the latest and the greatest.
For the vast majority of users, the Apple A14 Bionic from last year should still offer enough processing power while having 5G support being another plus point for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. Last year’s models “only” offer 30 fps for 4K video recording, while the new Cinematic Mode is not available despite being updated to iOS 15.
But even if the two camera modules are a sensor generation older and rely on optical instead of mechanical image stabilization: iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini also offer great image quality and can keep up with most smartphones. You just have to make do without the telesensor.

The two new entry-level smartphones in Apple’s lineup right now are the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2022). While the new iPhone SE comes with the Apple 15 Bionic SoC, the iPhone 11 was released with the best chipset of its generation, the Apple A13 Bionic.
Here, is important to mention that while this iPhone 11 chipset might be a bit older than the newer ones, it supports most of the new features of iOS 15, which leaves computing power as the main drawback. However, users who do not always play the latest games should still be able to manage well with the A13 Bionic SoC.
Another difference between this most affordable iPhone versions is that the new iPhone SE supports 5G connectivity while the iPhone 11 only offers 4G/LTE support.
The iPhone 11 has the same dual-camera setup as the newer iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models, and despite having older sensors, it offers a Night Mode including Deep Fusion. The iPhone SE has only a single 12-megapixel camera with no dedicated Night Mode and an aperture of f/1.8.
The cheapest new iPhone you can buy in 2022 is the iPhone SE 2022. The smartphone is special because Apple relies on the same design as the iPhone 8, but you get the powerful A15 Bionic with 5G support and better image processing for photos. The SE 2022 is particularly suitable for users who want a new phone but do not want to change the handling and design.
Finally, it is worth remembering that you can still buy the iPhone SE (2020) for around $349 from third-party stores.

Even though the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max have disappeared from Apple’s website, you can still buy the two smartphones on various online shops and retailers. With their features, the two Pro models are still competitive smartphones even in the fall of 2021.
In the coming weeks and months, we expect prices to fall as various vendors prepare to get rid of their existing inventory. So a look at the price comparison may be worthwhile in snagging a bargain.
In June 2021, we got a first look at iOS 15 during WWDC. In September 20, Apple began the official rollout of the final version of the mobile operating system. At first glance, it is primarily cosmetic changes. The Safari browser receives a facelift, notifications look different, and can be better managed with the help of the Focus feature. And of course, mindfulness is still a big issue.
However, there are more innovations in terms of security and privacy. Paying iCloud customers can jump aboard the “iCloud+” subscription at no extra charge and get all sorts of additional services, such as location and IP obfuscation Private Relay. And Siri no longer sends voice recordings around the globe, instead it processes requests locally on your device. Read more details about iOS 15 in the article below:
With the next iPhone generation, a new operating system is, of course, part of the deal. Apple has been following this pattern for many generations of smartphones now. iOS 16 will differ from its predecessor, especially in terms of visual cues. The new, customizable lock screen in iOS 16 gives you more control over the information you see before unlocking via Face ID or Touch ID. As with the Apple Watch, you can save multiple versions and conveniently switch between them.
Other new features that we have already been able to try out in the iOS 16 beta include dynamic notifications that display a live overview of your pizza order, for example. You can also read about our findings concerning the top 5 features in the upcoming iOS 16. To find out if your current iPhone model will still receive the iOS 16 update, check out the linked article.
Traditionally, Apple rolls out its new iOS versions directly after the unveiling of its new iPhone models. According to current rumors, you only have to wait until September 7 to download the update.
What’s next after the iPhone 13? Why, the iPhone 14, of course! Even before the launch of the iPhone 13, rumors about its successor have already begun to make their rounds. According to these rumors, the iPhone 14 will be available with a titanium case while ditching the notch and camera bump.
That sounds like a more Pro version of the Pro model, of which we might even see a smartphone pass the $2,000 mark for the first time. After all, the out-of-the-box iPhone 13 Pro Max isn’t too far off at $1,599.
Apple is also expected to introduce the new iPhone 14 models on September 7. We can expect a new edition of the standard model as well as the two Pro variants. The mini model will most likely be replaced by a max model in 2022, since the demand for large smartphones is generally higher than for compact smartphones. In fact, there are already a few rumors about such details circulating as well.
As you can read in our iPhone 14 rumor overview, Apple is supposed to use its new processors only in the Pro models. At the same time, it could be that Apple will equip the camera of the most powerful iPhone with a particularly powerful periscope zoom, which will be placed at an angle in the casing. On the front, the familiar notch is also expected to be replaced by a more discreet punch hole model.
If you are interested in the Pro models of the iPhone 14 series, you will have to be prepared for an expensive purchase. This is because the already expensive smartphones could see a significant price increase in 2022. On the one hand, this is due to many improvements that will be available in the Pro series, and on the other hand, the economic situation is significantly worse compared to September 2022. However, we will also have to wait until September for the exact prices – so keep your fingers crossed!
