Apple’s upcoming iOS 16 update will deliver native support for both the Switch Pro controller and Joy-Cons.
As spotted by Delta developer Riley Testut and confirmed by 9to5mac, some games running on the work-in-progress operating system can be played using the Pro controller or Joy-Cons.
Replying to Testut on social media, Apple developer Nat Brown explained that Joy-Cons can be paired together and used as a single controller — mimicking their Switch functionality — by holding the bottoms face buttons together for a few seconds.
Brown also noted that while Joy-Con support was already available on macOS, the pads haven’t been supported on iOS, iPadOS, or tvOS until now.
Apple revealed iOS 16 at WWDC earlier this week. The inbound OS is currently available for developer testing, and is expected to launch properly later this year.
