We met up with the Honor Magic4 Pro earlier this year in Barcelona, but the phone was China-exclusive at the time. No more – the Magic4 Pro is now starting its global journey and we have it at the office and in line for a review.
Let’s start with an unboxing. The Honor Magic4 Pro comes well-equipped with every accessory you’d need – a charger, USB cable, SIM tool, and a case. The charger is particularly impressive. It’s Honor’s 100W brick and it can go from 1% to 100% in just 30 minutes.
So the Magic4 Pro will charge lightning-fast, and we expect it to keep a charge for a long time given its 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and the relatively big 4,600mAh battery.
The display is impressive too – it’s a high-res 1312x2848px OLED panel with an LTPO backplane that can ramp up to 120Hz. It gets extremely bright as well, and is very vivid, as expected. It’s a bit on the cool side, but we’ll do a detailed reading in our full review.
The cameras on the Honor Magic4 Pro are arguably its highlight. The three imagers on the back are all large and high-megapixel with bright lenses in front of them. The 50MP f/1.8 main camera has optical stabilization, laser and phase-detect AF, and optical stabilization. A second 50MP sensor covers the ultrawide needs and doubles as a macro camera. There’s a 90mm (3.5x) periscope zoom with a large 1/2.0″ sensor and f/3.5 aperture.
We’re eager to test out these three cameras in our full review.
Upfront, there appear to be two cameras, but it’s really a single 12MP selfie unit and a 3D time-of-flight sensor for biometrics and depth data. The selfie camera is very wide, which we love. It can also serve up 4K videos, which is ever more important in this TikTok day and age.
Stay tuned for more of the Magic4 Pro soon.
