Greta Gerwig’s Star-Studded Movie to Feature Three Variations of Ken and Barbie

Celebrated film director Greta Gerwig is currently working on the star-studded Barbie live-action movie, which will see Australian actress Margot Robbie play the iconic Mattel toy character.

The movie is set to release in theatres around the world on July 21, 2023 alongside another superstar-heavy movie in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which features actors like Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek and many more.

At the moment, we have some details in the movie’s casting, as the film will feature Ryan Gosling as Barbie’s fling Ken. Along with that, Will Ferrell will also have a major role in the movie as the CEO of a toy company, which might be Mattel.

However, not much was known about the movie’s other cast members until now, as reports have emerged about the movie including other variations of Ken and Barbie.

According to The New York Times’ Kyle Buchanan, Gerwig has casted three different Kens, with Shang-Chi star Simu Liu and the new Doctor Who in Ncuti Gatwa playing different versions of the character alongside Ryan Gosling. Along with that, Margot Robbie won’t be the only person playing Barbie, as the character will also be played by Issa Rae and Hari Nef.

It’s unclear how the movie plans to portray three variations of Ken and Barbie. But, it definitely sounds quite exciting to the point, where fans are wondering whether the movie is a multiversal adventure. The concept has had a chokehold on Hollywood for the past few months with the release of hits like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Everything Everywhere All at Once, and it will be interesting to see if the Barbie will soon join this list as well.
