FIFA 23’s World Cup expansion will be FREE and launch after the main game – EA has confirmed on their blog.
FIFA 23 marks the end of the long-running partnership between EA and FIFA.
However, EA is determined to end the long-standing agreement with a bang – revealing not one, but two World Cup modes coming to this year’s game!

For the first time, both the World Cup Qatar 2022 and the Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023, will feature in FIFA 23.
EA confirmed: “Experience the pinnacle of international football with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™ as post-launch content updates at no additional cost. Stay tuned for more details in the build-up to each tournament.”
The former tournament kicks off in November, so we can expect to see the World Cup expansion drop around that time.
“People will be clamouring for football, and we have the opportunity to take advantage of that global momentum,” line producer Matthew Lafreniere said in a presentation to media.
There were not many details given around the FIFA 23 World Cup expansion, but we predict there could well be something like the Custom World Cup Kick Off Tournament mode we saw in FIFA 18.

Updated player cards, and an a new ‘Kick Off’ to allow people to play in a World Cup environment, will be features many will want to see return, after a fantastic reception to FIFA 18’s World Cup mode.
Elsewhere, FIFA 23 will feature a brand new and improved HyperMotion 2 technology – allowing for far more realistic player movement. New set pieces will also be introduced.
