FIFA 23 will be a Legacy Edition on Nintendo Switch – and fans are not happy about it.
That means the game will be very, very similar to FIFA 22 – although it will feature a few improvements in the broadcast overlay.
The game will be powered by a modified version of Ignite engine, as per previous years, meaning there will be no FIFA 23 HyperMotion technology in the game either.

EA confirmed: “Gameplay features and modes will have parity with FIFA 22 on Nintendo Switch and will feature the same gameplay from FIFA 22 Legacy Edition without any new development or significant enhancements.”
One disappointed fan on the FIFAswitch sub-reddit: “Not buying it this year. Sick of being classed as irrelevant by EA.”
Another said: “Will they not make more if they just went f2p?”

- Kick Off
- Career Mode
- Tournaments – Licensed and Custom, including the UEFA Champions League
- Women’s International Cup
- Skill Games
- Online Seasons & Friendlies
- Local Seasons

The FUT market will also be exclusive to Switch, while PS / Xbox owners will see one market shared.
FIFA 23 will be released on September 30 2022 – and FIFA 23 pre orders have already kicked off.
The announcement hasn’t been completely smooth sailing.

EA has confirmed that the game will be cross play in some modes, Pro Clubs will not be supporting the feature, which has angered the FIFA Pro Clubs community.
In a statement directed to EA, a leader in the Pro Clubs community claims EA is ‘out of touch’ with players and doesn’t ‘understand what players want’.
