As the inevitable FIFA 23 release date approaches, many are starting to wonder who the FIFA 23 ICONS will be for the latest edition.
FUT ICONS are special player cards in FUT, based on legendary players of the game.
These ICONS don’t just have amazing ratings and skills, they also link to every player around them, making them some of the most highly sought-after cards in the game.
Last year we saw Cafu, Rooney, Van Persie, and Casillas added.

According to known FIFA leaker, @FUTZONEFIFA, the following players could feature as FIFA 23 FUT ICONS:
What other FIFA 23 ICONS could we see?
DonkTrading thinks we could also see David Villa and Di Stefano.
Well, let’s take a look back at FIFA 22’s ICONS.
Goalkeeper ICONS:
Iker Casillas was new for FIFA 22.
Defender ICONS:
Cafu was new for FIFA 22.
Midfielder ICONS:
Maradona was eventually removed.
Forward ICONS:
Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie were added for FIFA 22.
The reveal date is unknown with FIFA 23 still not fully announced.
We could expect to see Prime and basic ICONS in packs around December, then possibly ICON Moments in February.

A FIFA ICON card can always create a positive link, regardless of the club and nationalities involved.
HERO cards can work in a similar fashion to other cards, where you need to match nationalities or leagues in order to create a stronger link.
Despite HERO cards not having the same linking power as ICON cards, they are still a viable option.
