What do you need to take away from the Intel Innovation event 2022?
Updated: Sep 27, 2022 6:22 pm
Intel has returned with its annual Intel innovation event. This is where Intel showcases the brand new technology Intel has been working on over the past year. There is but one thing on most people’s minds this year, and that’s Intel’s new Raptor Lake CPUs. Here’s Everything you need to know about Raptor Lake.
Will this be enough to fend off AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series CPUs that were released earlier today?
Intel Innovation event 2022
Pat Gelsinger, Intel’s CEO, kicks off the event by speaking of technology and how it’s changing around the world.
Pat then goes on to talk about the new UCIe that intel is developing. UCIe stands for Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express and this includes over 80+ members, from Nvidia to Samsung. UCIe is the standardization of chiplet architecture, explains Pat.
Later on in the Keynote presentation, Pat begins to talk about Intel’s Raptor Lake CPUs but there’s not a huge amount of information given.
Raptor Lake: Intel Innovation event 2022
Pat begins the Raptor Lake segment of the keynote by introducing the Core i9-13900K, noting it as the “best gaming and streaming experience in the world”. And that may very well be true with its massive 5.8GHz core boost speed.
During this portion of the presentation, it is shown that Raptor Lake will have a flagship CPU containing up to 24 Performance and Efficiency cores, up to a 15% better single-core performance gain, and up to 41% better multi-thread performance gain.
We don’t know if that’s an architectural gain, or just because the flagship has more cores to play with.
Raptor Lake comes with more advancements, such as increased L1 and L2 cache. Pat describes the 13900K again as the “fastest processor ever” boasting that it can easily break the 6GHz barrier with its rated boost speeds of 5.8GHz.
Raptor Lake: The best platform
Pat moves into speaking about the Raptor Lake as a platform, not just as a CPU.
Some of the advancements intel has made to the Raptor Lake platform include:
- Improved P-core Cache architecture, Double E-cores
- PCIe Gen 5.0 Support, along with Gen 4.0
- DDR5-5600/DDR5-5200 support and DDR4 support
- Best-in-class, fast thunderbolt 4 & Intel Killer WiFi 6E
- Unmatched overclocking experience, from beginners to experts.
Pat then moves on to say that Intel will release an SKU next year that will reach 6 GHz out of the box in limited volumes. Could this be a Core i9-13900KS?
It’s not just the desktop users that will be seeing 13th gen Raptor Lake CPUs. Including mobile processors, you can expect over 50 processors in the Raptor Lake family.
Raptor Lake Pirce and release date?
There was no mention of Raptor Lake price or release date in the Innovation event 2022. Although we did see that there will be a CPU release early next year, that will reach a massive 6 GHz out of the box.
