Following many rumors and leaks, Daredevil fans received the news they have long waited for, as the Devil from Hell’s Kitchen makes his return with the Echo Disney+ Marvel show, which stars Alaqua Cox as the protagonist in Maya Lopez.
For years, fans patiently waited to see the return of Charlie Cox as the Man without Fear, following his turn as Matt Murdock in three seasons of the Netflix Daredevil show. The character made its way to the MCU last year with a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Cox played as the attorney for Peter Parker.
However, in the Echo show, the character will have a meatier role, and he will make his comeback alongside his feared nemesis in Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, who was last seen as the overarching antagonist of the Hawkeye Disney+ Marvel show.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Cox and D’Onofrio will reprise their characters, and many suggest that it might lead to the rumored fourth season of the Daredevil show, which will make its way to Disney+.
Reports also state that Kingpin will be running for the Mayor of New York, with the villain sporting an eyepatch, after he was shot in the head by Lopez in the season finale of the Hawkeye show. Moreover, in the recent episode of The Weekly Podcast, rumors have swirled around the return of another Netflix Marvel superhero in Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, as the show will involve Daredevil finding his fellow Defender.
It’s unclear whether Marvel Studios has plans to bring back the remaining Defenders in Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Danny Rand aka Iron Fist. However, with the Echo show, it seems like Marvel is laying down the groundwork that will translate to a long future for Cox’s Daredevil and Ritter’s Jones in the MCU.
