What MW2 maps could we see in the beta?
Updated: Sep 14, 2022 2:56 pm
With the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 release date now in sight, the anticipation continues to build.
There have been fewer rumors and leaks this time around, giving the upcoming MW2 Beta a lot of hype. Adding fuel to this fire comes the COD NEXT event on September 15th, which apparently will give us all that taste of MW2 multiplayer action we have been dying to see.
Still, cracks do appear and we currently have a few confirmed and unconfirmed Modern Warfare 2 maps to continue building the excitement.
Older COD fans want more though and while these confirmed maps sound rather tasty, we all want to know what classics we can expect to see.
While we know this is a sequel to the 2019 Modern Warfare title and not a remastered game, it is highly likely we are going to see some reimagined classic maps in the multiplayer pool.
The most obvious maps we would love to see feature in the 2022 MW2 are of course Rust, Terminal, and Favela but could we see some Call of Duty 4 (Modern Warfare) maps too?

Modern Warfare 2 maps 2022: Confirmed
We still await the full Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 map pool to be released, however, based on an early version of the game there are some confirmed 6v6 (Core) and battle maps (Large Scale).
As many know, MW2 is set to take place around the globe, so the world is the devs literal oyster.
Every imaginable landscape can be drafted into a Modern Warfare 2 map, pretty exciting no?
Three of the core 6v6 maps that are already confirmed are:
- Museum
- Marina Bay Grand Prix
- Farm 18 Training Facility
The video above already teased the Grand Prix map and more recently we have seen a couple of leaks around the Museum map layout.
The most elusive so far of the three is the Farm map, with no known location mentioned as of yet.
The larger scale ‘Battle’ maps for modes such as Ground War will be points of interest from the new Warzone 2 map.
Two Battle Maps that are likely to arrive:
- Sariff Bay, Which will allow you to swim in certain areas
- Sa’id, Larger scale urban combat
Leaked Modern Warfare 2 maps: Unconfirmed
The map pool is starting to look rather large, however, if these are of high quality, it is just what a competitive FPS shooter needs.
Assuming Killhouse is the well-known indoor chaotic mess from COD4, it opens the new title up for some 1v1/2v2 action.
- Oilfield
- Dogtown
- Exhume
- Fallout
- Esports Gym
- Floating Bay
- Killhouse
- Lighthouse
- Luxury
- Mountain Town
- Narcos
Modern Warfare 2 maps we want remastered
While the multiplayer maps on the original Modern Warfare 2 were nowhere near as good as the CoD4 classics (Crash, District, Strike, Crossfire), there were still a few that offered some fun.
The game became less known for its competitive play and that was largely due to the direction map creators went, removing the 3-lane nature we saw from CoD4, in favor of multi-dimensional, cluttered, immersive maps instead.
Hopefully, some of the rumored maps above will bring in that 3-lane esport-style map for the competitive players out there that want to search and destroy.
Seeing how the franchise has been over the last decade, we won’t be holding our breath, so if its just plain-old fun we have to look forward to then we would love to see these maps remastered:
- Favela
- Terminal
- Highrise
- Rust
We cannot wait to get our hands on the beta, Call of Duty is always one of the most anticipated games of the year.
The franchise has been a bit disappointing of late, with Warzone offering CoD fans a bit more in recent times.
We hope that Modern Warfare 2 breaks the mold and brings a bit of pride back to the famous name, a surefire way to do that is by nailing the MW2 maps from the get-go.
