Call Of Duty Modern Warfare II Fans Want New Type Of Crossplay

The beta for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II is coming up in September, and it’s sparked a discussion among the Call Of Duty community. That discussion is about the nature of cross-play, and what type of cross-play Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II should have according to their fans.

The Call Of Duty Modern Warfare II Crossplay Debate Rages

User Daver7692 stated:

“The way Destiny does it is the best way for me. Any sort of PvE/Co-Op is full crossplay. Any PvP is Console V Console crossplay, unless you have a PC player in your squad that you are searching with, at which point it opens up to PC players and other console players with PC friends in their group.”

That’s not to say this is the only opinion, though. There’s concerns that being forced to crossplay with players from various platforms could lead to balancing issues, especially with the perceived extra speed that PC players have when playing with keyboard and mouse. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s crossplay has a fine line to balance when making their fans happy, that’s for sure. Another fan, Fotoradar6060, had the following take:

“I don’t care about the platform, I care about the input. Most of the time I get paired with controller users, they’re super sweaty and most of the time I get paired with mouse and keyboard users, it’s a nice casual experience.”

How Did The Last Call Of Duty Handle Crossplay?

In the last Call Of Duty title, Call Of Duty: Vanguard, you could only turn off cross-play between various systems by turning off cross-play completely. Otherwise, you were stuck with playing online with random people from across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, which obviously led to a lot of frustrations for players that wanted to be matched with people that they felt were on their skill level.

We’ll see how Activision decides to handle cross-play in the upcoming titles. If they’re smart enough they should really listen to what their fans have to say. However, if they want to make their fans happy they’ll have a job to do.
