Blackmagic Design Releases Desktop Video 12.4 with ARM Support

Blackmagic Design has released an update to its Desktop Video suite of drivers. The update provides support for ARM Architecture processors to the Blackmagic DeckLink Quad 2, DeckLink Duo 2, DeckLink Quad HDMI recorder, DeckLink 8K Pro, DeckLink SDI Micro, DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K, and DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K.

Through version 12.4, users can integrate Blackmagic’s Decklink cards into custom hardware rigs by using NVidia’s AGX Xavier and Clara AGX Developer kits.

The result is multichannel 8K capability with real-time machine learning and GPU Acceleration. In short, when going live, the software sets up and manages your DeckLink, UltraStudio, and Intensity for video capture and playback with your computer.

The update is also supported when using Thunderbolt Hotplug kernels older than 3.12, however, users must use an extra step after plugging the device in.

Users must go to the command line and type: # sudo sh -c ‘echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/rescan’. This will tell the kernel to rescan the PCI bus and re-enable it.

The Desktop Video 12.4 update is supported on all three main operating systems, including Windows 10 and above, macOS 11 or later with a minimum of 8GB of system memory, and Linux.

Blackmagic has also added support for AArch64, but in doing so, it has discontinued support for 32-bit x86 platforms. So if still using legacy computer rigs, it may be a good idea not to update.
