Ben Kingsley To Reprise His Role As Trevor Slattery in MCU Wonder Man Disney+ Series

Marvel’s Wonder Man Disney+ series seems to have found its first cast member in Ben Kingsley, who will be returning to the MCU as failed actor Trevor Slattery.

According to Variety, the Oscar-winning actor is all set to reprise the role he first played in Iron Man 3 alongside Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow and Guy Pearce.

Kingsley last played the role of the failed actor in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, where he was shown to be imprisoned by Xu Wenwu.

Now that Avengers: Infinity War finally revealed what became of Red Skull, the single biggest loose end in the MCU involves The Mandarin. Iron Man 3 introduced two versions of this iconic villain - bumbling actor Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley) and AIM head honcho Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce). But as we saw in the Marvel One-Shot
Ben Kingsley made his MCU debut in Iron Man 3.

Various reports suggest that the series is set to be a satire on Hollywood, as Wonder Man has been part of the acting and stunt fraternity in the comics. The character of Simon Williams aka Wonder Man first debuted as a businessman following the failure of his business due to the stiff competition provided by Stark Industries. After making his mark as a villain, Baron Zemo recruited the character to the villainous Thunderbolts squad. As part of the team, he fought various Avengers members, before changing his mind and becoming part of the good guys.

With the show set around the world of Hollywood, it’s quite visible to see how Trevor Slattery makes his case to be part of the series as the failed actor behind the Mandarin. Furthermore, the series is set to be created by Destin Daniel Cretton, who was also the director of the Shang-Chi movie, where Kingsley played a pivotal role.

It will be interesting to see how Trevor Slattery will be showcased following his imprisonment by the real Mandarin, and it sure seems like Kingsley will be back to display his comedic chops.
