AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su confirmed the release date of all Ryzen 7000 series CPUs at a recent event held by AMD.
AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series is the generation known as Zen 4, the successor to the very popular and widely adopted Zen 3 architecture. The Zen 3 architecture brought us titans such as the 5800X3D and the 5950X. So Zen 4 has some pretty big shoes to fill. This article will reveal more than just the AMD Ryzen 7000 series release date.

AMD recently held an event on the 29th of August 2022 named “together we advance PCs”. At that event, AMD CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, announced the release date, price, and some performance metrics of the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs. So what is the AMD Ryzen 7000 series release date?
AMD Ryzen 7000 series release date
As we mentioned above, AMD recently held an event where AMD CEO, Dr. Lisa Su announced the Ryzen 7000 series release date as the 27th of September 2022.
This is the very same day that intel plans to unveil its 13th generation “Raptor Lake” processors.
When was the Ryzen 7000 series announced?
Although there were many rumors and leaks surrounding AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs before their official unveiling, Ryzen 7000 series CPUs were not officially announced until August 29th, 2022. The announcement happened at AMD’s “together we advance PCs” event.
However, Zen 4 as architecture was announced much sooner. Zen 4 was announced in an AMD roadmap back in January 2022, at CES.
AMD Ryzen 7000 series price
There were four separate CPUs announced under the Ryzen 7000 series, those were named and priced as follows.
- AMD Ryzen 9 7950X – $699
- AMD Ryzen 9 7900X – $549
- AMD Ryzen 7 7700X – $399
- AMD Ryzen 5 7600X – $299
The prices of these CPUs come as a bit of a shock, they are much less expensive than most thought they would be, which is certainly a pleasant surprise.
Not only that, but every CPU on this list beats Intel’s Core i9-12900K in single-core and gaming benchmarks, a CPU that costs $730 at launch.
Ryzen 7000 series specifications
AMD’s very own CEO Dr. Lisa Su introduces the Ryzen 7000 CPU line-up officially in AMD’s recent event. This will include four CPUs, the 7950X, 7900X, 7700X, and 7600X.
This Ryzen 7000 series lineup is designed to “bring the leadership performance of Zen 4 across all price points” As stated by AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su at the recent AMD event.
Ryzen 9 7950X
The 7950X has a core count of 16 cores and 32 threads, it will also have a very high base core frequency of 4.5GHz, and a boost clock speed of 5.7GHz.
The 7950X also has a huge 170W TDP, 65W higher than any Ryzen 5000 series chip.
As for Cache, the Ryzen 9 7950X comes with 80MB total, 64MB from L3, and 16MB from L2 (1MB per core).
Ryzen 9 7900X
The Ryzen 9 7900X will come with a 12-core 32-thread setup, featuring base and boost frequencies topping 4.7GHz, and 5.6GHz respectively.
The CPU retains the same 170W TDP as the 7950X. As for cache, the 7900X has 76MB of cache (64MB L3 and 12MB of L2)
Ryzen 7 7700X
The Ryzen 7 7700X comes rocking an 8-core 16-thread configuration, a smooth 4.5GHz base frequency, and a boost frequency that tops out at 5.4GHz.
The 7700X has a lower TDP of 105W, the same as the 5950X of the last generation. As for cache, we have 40MB, 32MB of L3 cache, and 8MB of L2.
Ryzen 5 7600X
The Ryzen 5 7600X is equipped with a 6-core 12-thread configuration, The 7600X also features both base and boost core frequencies of 4.7GHz and 5.3GHz respectively. Boasting a 105 TDP also.
As for cache, the 7600X will feature 38MB of total cache (32MB of L3 and 6MB of L2).
Ryzen 7000 series Vs i9-12900K
During the Event on the 29th of August, AMD revealed some performance metrics about each Ryzen 7000 series CPU. Now we know it’s not a lot to go on, but Geekbench 5.4 single-threaded benchmark results were revealed during the event. Those results read as follows.
Each CPU performed better than the Core i9-12900k in this scenario, with the Core i9-12900K scoring a respectable 2040 points. Even the base Zen 4 processor toppled this score, the 7600X scored a very impressive 2175 points.
Intel could be in trouble this time around. AMD has always held the fort in terms of multi-core performance, but AMD could be taking single-core performance this time around.
Final word
This AMD Ryzen 7000 series release is going to be a big one, we have lots of things to look forward to if AMD is going to stay true to its word and deliver on the promises it has made in regards to the new CPU line-up.
Rest assured, we will put the new Ryzen 7000 series CPUs through their paces to really see what sort of performance is hidden under that IHS. Watch this space for more Zen 4 AMD 7000 series information.
