Following on from the improvements of the RX 6000 series we now look forward to the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT. It could turn out to be the next best graphics card to choose.
Part of the upcoming RDNA 3 lineup it hopes to offer a great choice of a GPU. Especially following the success of the RX 6800 XT.
It is the more attractive option with great performance without a hefty price tag. The new card is likely to follow suit with great performance without the exorbitant price tag.
With that, we have to round up the latest leaks and rumors as to what we can expect from the upcoming powerhouse. As there are still yet to be official announcements to be made.
For the specifications, there is still a lot of change to be expected until the release of the card. But for now, there are some talkings that can be added to our summary.
The 7800 XT is expected to be based upon the Navi 32 chip. Which will feature TSMCs 5 and 6nm process that will be using the RDNA 3 graphics architecture.
The die itself may contain 128 compute units. Along with 8,192 or 10,240 stream processors.
Here we see some of the conflicts between sources on what the card holds in it.
For the VRAM the 7900 XT may contain 16 or 20 GB of GDDR6. Across a 256 or 320-bit bus. Which could possibly be clocked at 18 Gbps.
It is also said to have a 256MB infinity cache and be the first to feature PCIe Gen 5 interface. Adding plenty of speed bandwidth to the memory and card itself.
It does suggest an improvement over the previous generation, as expected. But even then a lot of performance uplift is expected with a closer fight between competition.

There are no separate suggestions as to when to expect different release dates for models. So we assume the initial lineup will be the same as the previous and have the main three options.
With that, the main source for the release date rumor comes from Greymon55 on Twitter. Who is a known leaker suggesting a late October to mid-November launch window.
This would be similar to the timing of the RX 6000 series that came out in October of 2020.
This has yet to be confirmed, although the previous announcements do suggest it will be by the end of 2022 either way.
As the GPU pricing crash has led to an overstock of cards for the manufacturers. Which they will want to sell off before the next generation.
One of the last things to be confirmed about a release is the price of them. But we just look back at the previous releases as to what we may expect.
The current model types are still fairly new so there isn’t much to go back on. However, we look over the rest of the trends to come up with a prediction.
With the RX 6800 XT, it came out at a recommended price of $649 USD. So this will likely be the starting point of the following card.
So we expect to see the RX 7800 XT cost in the range of $650-$900 USD. As with the inflation and increases in pricing, we do expect a higher cost.
If you’re wondering about the rest of the possible cards coming out in the next-gen AMD selection we have the pages for you. With a likely three different options as well as the main hub we will keep you posted on what to expect.
