Alan Wake Remastered Nintendo Switch Release Announced

Last Updated:

Alan Wake Remastered has been officially announced to be coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. The game was released in October of last year and brought with it several quality-of-life changes and updates to the game, but a notable absence in the list of consoles that it released on was that of the Nintendo Switch itself, something that Remedy is now rectifying.

In a press release Remedy Entertainment had the following to say in regards to the game before promising that it would be announcing a release date in the coming months:

The game was launch as a digital Nintendo Switch release only, and runs natively on the hardware.”

In a thirteen minute long video released to YouTube, Remedy also spoke about the upcoming sequel to the cult classic horror game, stating that, while development is going well and the game is still set to release next year, they will not be showing any new footage of the game over the summer. Remedy did however show off various pieces of concept art related to the game. Sam Lake, creative director of the game, said that:

To create a proper, polished demo or a trailer takes a lot of effort, and it’s several months of work that could take away from development. We feel that we have momentum going, and we want to make sure we are creating the best, and first, survival horror game for Remedy.”

Remedy was hoping to show off more of the game this summer but has made the difficult decision to move that so that they can give fans of the series the best possible showcase of what the next-generation of consoles can bring the author and extremely tortured soul of Alan Wake himself.

Alan Wake’s anniversary update video also revealed that AMC has bought the rights for an Alan Wake TV show that was announced back in 2018. AMC is known perhaps best for their adaptation and subsequent farming of The Walking Dead license and with that show ending later this year, they’re more than likely looking for something new that they can hold as their premium content.
