The newly announced Acer Predator Triton 300 SE release date for both the 14-inch version and the 16-inch versions has us intrigued for these latest entries into the gaming laptop market. Acer gaming laptops have disappointed in recent years so we’re intrigued to see if 2022 could mark a return to form, and offer more affordable competition in the high-end gaming laptop market. There are various GPU, CPU, and display options available for both sizes of the new machine, including an OLED laptop option. Read below for all the specifications, pricing, and release date information currently available.
Acer Predator Triton 300 SE specs (14-inch & 16-inch)
Despite the confusing naming convention, the SE for these laptops actually stands for Special Edition, not to be confused with the 3D stereoscopic technology of the newly announced Acer Predator Helios 300 Spatial Labs Edition. Unlike this particular Helios model, which is capped at 60Hz refresh rate, the Triton’s are more suited to gaming thanks to the 165Hz – 240Hz screen options listed below, though be advised the OLED option for the 14-inch model seems to also be limited to 60Hz.
It’s great to see that the Acer Predator Triton 300 SE 16 supports Nvidia G-Sync and has NVIDIA Advanced Optimus (essentially a MUX Switch but you don’t have to restart your laptop), though apparently, these features are lacking on the 14-inch model. The lack of an SD card reader on the Acer Predator Triton 300 SE 14 is also a bit disappointing, particularly for those looking to go for the OLED display as a creative laptop for graphic design and the like, but besides this, it could be a much more affordable solution compared to the competition.
