A YouTuber has revealed that he’s heard that Microsoft turned down the chance to take the KOTOR remake. This comes amid talk of the company doing the same with Spider-Man before Sony got exclusive rights to the property.

KOTOR Remake Turned Down By Microsoft?

YouTuber MrMattyPlays stated in the video above:

I’ve said it on multiple accounts and I’ll say it again. I was directly told by multiple sources that have been accurate in the past, Xbox was approached for the KOTOR remake and they turned it down. That is crazy to me because that’s heritage, that’s OG Xbox heritage.”

While it’s unclear whether or not the information MrMattyPlays has been given is accurate, it would make sense. Knights Of The Old Republic started life as a Bioware-developed original Xbox exclusive, and to have something like that not launching on the new generation of consoles was always something that piqued the curiosity of people and was a curiosity. Why wouldn’t Microsoft fight for this, and try to get the game to at least be a cross-generational release? Now we may know why.

Take this with a grain of salt, of course, as MrMattyPlays hasn’t made his sources available. Still, if this is the case, it also begs the question of whether the KOTOR remake will ever find its way onto the Xbox system or if it’ll remain a Sony exclusive for the rest of time (once it finally releases, that is).

KNOTR Remake

The Knights Of The Old Republic remake was announced last year to be in development by ASPYR, in the same showcase that announced Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine. It’s currently unclear as to how the game will function, or whether or not it’ll keep the original gameplay style. If it’s anything like Final Fantasy 7 Remake then it might offer players the opportunity to play either in a real-time aspect or in a turn-based gameplay style.
