Xiaomi DSLR-like smartphone camera system patent

However, it is worth mentioning here this is a mere placeholder image. The image does not show a larger camera sensor with variable focal length. In fact, it is capable of physically moving like actual cameras. Xiaomi needs just one camera sensor to implement a DSLR-like camera zoom system.

So, this could be a game changer if Xiaomi uses a great sensor. Notably, more sensors make a camera system more impressive. Xiaomi’s plan to implement this exciting camera system is quite refreshing. However, the Chinese smartphone giant is not the first OEM to come up with this idea.

Sony Xperia 1 IV

The Xperia 1 IV from Sony features an actual optical zoom camera. Also, the phone’s camera system has a hidden variable focal length. So, Sony is offering a better solution without much protruding. Also, it is unclear whether Xiaomi will make something like the patent shows. A patent doesn’t guarantee the Xiaomi DSLR-like camera zoom system will see the light of the day.
